Fall podcast update: Summits, upfronts and new launches

Despite these tumultuous times, it’s been a remarkably active and stable year for the podcast industry. Podcast listening - and advertising revenues - continue to trend up, demonstrating the resilience of a medium that’s proving to be highly relevant and increasingly in demand in today’s world.

As podcasting goes mainstream, it’s more important than ever to keep up with what's going on in the industry, and to understand what agencies can do to better serve their clients. Virtual events have replaced physical conferences, and while they’re a little less social, they do make things more accessible (and cost-effective) for potential attendees, and they can provide valuable insights and opportunities. Thanks internet!

Virtual podcast conferences

To that end, coming up September 24 - RAIN DIGITAL CANADA 2020. In its third year, this major Canadian event takes a deep dive into podcasting, streaming and more, and covers a range of topics from production to distribution and monetization.

TPX’s VP of Sales, Bob Kane, will be participating in a panel about podcast advertising in Canada, along with Matt Turck (CRO, Megaphone), Kayla Landen (Integrated Media Lead at NFA) and Brigid Judge (Dir. Partnerships for Podsights). They’ll cover new trends in sales and attribution tracking, and talk about how agencies are approaching investing in the space.

Other topics at the summit include digital strategies for broadcasters, data analysis/measurement, new podcast content/audiences and more. If you’re interested in attending online, you can register now - and don’t miss Bob’s panel at 2:10pm on Thursday!

Earlier this month, the IAB in the US held their annual Podcast Upfront event. Three days long, it gave media buyers a chance to preview the latest in podcast programming from some of the biggest names in the business.  In addition to industry leaders, celebrity podcasters joined to talk about their latest projects, including Oprah Winfrey, Samantha Bee, Will Ferrell, David Tennant, Julie Andrews. Al Franken and so many more. You can find out more about Podcast Upfront 2020 on the iAB website, or read some highlights (“notes, quotes, pics”) on the RAIN website.

New TPX services

TPX has been busy lately, too! In addition to our regular direct sales business (which has stayed strong through COVID), we’ve started up two new lines of business:

TPX Studios - We officially launched this new initiative in August. At TPX Studios, our focus is three-fold:  Branded Podcasts for clients seeking deeper engagement with their customers;  Enterprise Podcasts for companies looking to foster greater cohesion throughout their organization; and Consulting for organizations looking to explore, launch or optimize their podcast strategies.

Backed by a team of award-winning writers and producers, TPX Studios offers forward-thinking companies an opportunity to speak with a new voice.

Have a look at this press release from Broadcast Dialogue to learn more about TPX Studios, or take a look at the new TPX Studios section of our website, or simply reach out to us and ask if you want to know more.

TPX Programmatic - Our sales team launched this new initiative earlier this summer. TPX can now offer agency trading desks machine-based buying across multiple podcast shows and networks.  With Triton’s world-class technology, we can offer a level of transparency, brand safety and audio quality that is unmatched by other providers in the space.

TPX has been a leader in direct podcast ad sales, and we’re really excited to be launching TPX Programmatic so we can extend that leadership to agency trade desks. With our track record of strong relationships with both agencies and podcast publishers, and our expertise in podcast listening behaviours and choices, we now have even more tools to help brands reach new audiences, enhance their existing relationships and improve brand favourability to drive sales.

If you think TPX’s programmatic podcast marketplace could be a good fit for your organization and want to know more about our premium inventory, please reach out to our sales team so we can help you learn more about taking advantage of this exciting new opportunity.
